Penan Woman Playing the Nose Flute – A Portrait

Mongurali

This portrait is one of my favourites from the Borneo trip. It captures a flesh tunneled Penan woman playing the nose flute (mongurali) in a village market of the Gunung Mulu area of Sarawak, Malaysia.

Canon EOS 50, 17-40mm f/4L, Fuji Neopan 400 B&W film

    • Thanks – I took a month beginning early Jan 09 to go from Kota Kinabalu to Brunei to Kuching and back to KL for Chinese New Year with my partner’s family. I had a brilliant time. I’ve posted quite a few short accounts and photos from the trip under my Malaysia category if you are interested.
